Memorial Service for Ted Fidock this Saturday

Last Saturday we lost a huge part of the Brighton and South Australian rugby community, Ted Fidock.

Ted’s family spoke for all of us when they announced this sad news…

“Our hearts are broken but blessed and proud to have have Ted as our father, grandfather ‘Da’, and and great big ‘Da’ in our lives for 98 healthy years. We love him to the universe and back and miss him already.

He was loved by all and and loved everyone right back. A massive family man and made everyone feel they were the special ones.

A truly special gentleman.’

You are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating Ted’s life at a service this coming Saturday, November 2nd, at 3pm at Brighton Rugby Club.

The celebration for Ted will take place on the pitch, and finish by about 4pm. There will be seating, and some shade, but please be mindful that it will be a warm day and wear a hat.

As Ted was always immaculately turned out whenever we saw him out at rugby, we ask that if possible you come in a shirt and club tie, whichever club you support.

At the conclusion of the service, there will be light refreshments upstairs, and the bar will be open. There will also be a slideshow and memorabilia of Ted’s time with us.

Please join us to remember Ted together with his many friends in rugby.

VALE Ted Fidock 16.10.26 – 26.10.24

Ted has lived a very full life, and had an outstanding rugby resume.

Playing international games in Ceylon as part of an Australia XV in 1953, he also played against Fiji and the Maori All Blacks.

Ted won the Don Smith medal in 1952 and 1959 and later was awarded an OAM by the Australian Government for services to Rugby.

His love for rugby spread off field as well, being the Brighton President in the late 1970s and was awarded Life Membership of Rugby Union SA in 2006. Ted had a great love for being at the rugby and for his beloved Brighton Rugby Club.

We send our condolences to his family and his friends.
