ROUND 8 Results vs Barossa

Round 8 was our latest home game for the season, and we welcomed Barossa to Brighton Road.

Brighton Under 14s and Women had a bye for this week, so while it was not quite as busy on the field, it was still a big day, ending up with the hotly contested Beer Pong night, with 24 teams competing for the honours!

Brighton Under 10s started the morning games, with another round featuring two games. This week we had a Brighton vs Brighton game, and then Brighton vs Barossa, and both games featured some great rugby! Over on the other half of the pitch, the get into Rugby squad and the Under 8s also had a great time.

Brighton Under 12s had a big win over Barossa after a couple of narrow losses, coming out on top by 66-0. The Under 12s will hope to start climbing up the ladder with some wins in their upcoming games.

Brighton Under 16s were the next side to play, and they also had a big win against an under-strength Barossa/Elizabeth team, winning 66-5. Brighton have another chance next week to continue winning with a vital game against Onkaparinga.

Third Grade Black played out a thriller at Tregenza, finishing up in a 22-all draw with Old Collegians. Back at Brighton, the Gold team had a slow start against Barossa who had only lost one game so far this season. Brighton gave up the first try and only scored just on half time to tie it up. The second half was much better by Gold, eventually winning 42-21 to confirm their undefeated record half way through the year.

Brighton Reserve grade were also made to work early, down 5-7 after only 10 minutes. However Brighton scored next, and were never headed again, eventually winning 50-14. Brighton now have a couple of games to prepare for their top of the table clash with old Collegians in Round 11 at home.

Brighton Premier grade started very quickly, scoring in the first four minutes. Barossa responded quickly, scoring the next two tries to take the lead. The rest of the first half was back and forth, Brighton finally scoring on half time to lead 24-19. Brighton then scored twice quickly after the restart, and despite two late tries Barossa were unable to catch up, with the final score 55-33 for Brighton.

After the day’s games, the 2026 Brighton Beer Pong took place upstairs. All of the 24 teams were dressed in their finest costumes, and an amazing time was enjoyed by all. Thank you to everyone who supported the club for another big home game, and apologies for the late newsletter!
