Round 5
Brighton vs Barossa

This week is time for the annual trip to Tanunda to take on the Barossa Rams. There is another full schedule of junior and senior games, with Third Grade Black not making the trip but playing at their second home at the Port against Onkaparinga Thirds.

The junior games start from 8:00am and continue all morning until our Under 18s play at 12.30pm. After lunch the action continues until Premier grade kick off at 6pm.

This week the Under 12s are searching for their first win, and will hope to jump up the ladder with victory against the rams U12s. Brighton Under 14s can move into third with a win, and start to secure their place in the top 4. The Under 16s will also look to continue improving as their squad comes together, and move up in to the top four. Finally Brighton Under 18s should also find themselves securely amongst the leaders.

The Brighton Women’s team get to play at the same ground as the rest of the club again this week. After getting a taste of try scoring last week, the Women get another chance to thrill a home crowd and take it a step further, and push for their first win of the year.

In Third grade Brighton Gold are playing for top position against Barossa, and still remember the sting of the extra time loss in the 2023 Grand Final. Brighton Black will also be desperate to win, as the Gold and Black sides would then finish the day as the top two sides on the ladder, and set up a huge game in 2 weeks when they play each other at the Port!

Reserve grade is another top of the ladder clash, and Brighton aim to continue their recent dominance of the reserves competition. Finally Brighton Premier grade can move up into second on the ladder and start to remind the competition that we are always a finals threat!

As always our Junior and Senior teams need your support, so join us at Barossa tomorrow, and if you are there for Junior games, please stay and cheer on the seniors… it should be a sunny day of great rugby, come and enjoy!

Tyson Diamond
50 Senior Games

Brighton Rugby Club is proud to announce another milestone game.

Tyson Diamond has spent the previous 49 games tearing up opposition sides in the backs… who can ever forget the injury time try to knock Onkas out and put Brighton into another Third Grade Grand Final?

Congratulations Tyson Diamond on 50 senior games for Brighton!

Round 4 Results Omission

After the previous newsletter with the results of Round 4 matches, it was brought to our attention that we left out the biggest win of the weekend!

Brighton Third grade Black took on Adelaide University Sharks at the Port in Round 4. The Sharks were bolstered by several Premier grade players, but Brighton were determined to win and keep both Brighton Third grade sides in the top four.

This is exactly what Brighton did, as they scored an impressive 16 tries to run out winners by a score of 102 – 24. Everyone was in on the action with eleven different try scorers, several doubles and a hat trick, and eleven conversions.

To top it off, some of the team then backed up for Port Reserve grade and pulled off a thrilling one point win over Adelaide Uni! Congratulations Brighton Blacks on a great win that leaves then securely in the top four, and owners of the best points record in Third Grade.

Volunteers needed

The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.

In particular we need volunteers to act as Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.

If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee during the week.
