Brighton vs Southern Suburbs

This Saturday sees a very busy day at Brighton, with a very full schedule of games. Every team except Third Grade Black is playing at home, as we host Southern Suburbs in our second home game at Brighton for the season.

Games start from 8:00am, and the canteen will be open for everyone who needs a coffee to survive the early start! All junior sides are in action against Souths during the morning, and our senior teams will then take over through until a late start under lights for the Premier Grade at 6:10pm.

The day starts with our Get into Rugby squad (U4-7) playing, along with our U8s. The action then moves to full pitch with the U10s. In U12s and U16s, Southern Suburbs will be keen to stay near the top of the ladder, while Brighton look for confidence-boosting wins. In U14s, it’s Brighton who need a win to challenge for top spot, and in U18s both sides will de desperate to pull away from the bottom sides.

The Brighton Women’s team will have their first chance to play in front of a home crowd as they try to open their account against Woodville. Wins for Third grade Gold and Black could see both Brighton teams in the top three on the ladder, and Reserve grade are playing for outright top spot. Premier grade are steadily moving up the ladder, and need a win to consolidate their place in the top four.

All of our Junior and Senior sides need your support, and it is especially exciting to have the Brighton Women playing alongside all of our other teams, so please come down to catch some great rugby on a sunny Saturday at Brighton!

Milestone games Congratulations
Lee Hunter and Geoff Aherne

Brighton Rugby Club is proud to announce milestones for two senior players.

Lee Hunter has been a constant feature of the Premier grade in the last several seasons. In 2023 Lee won the club trophy for Premier Grade most improved and followed this up in 2024 with the Sir Norman Jude Tackling trophy as best senior male tackler in South Australia. Congratulations to Lee on achieving 100 senior games!

Geoff Aherne only arrived at Brighton in 2022, but in three seasons has provided a constant try-scoring threat for the Premier and Reserve grades, become a great club member and very quickly achieved this milestone for the club. Congratulations Geoff on 50 senior games for Brighton!

Volunteers needed

The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.

In particular we need volunteers to act as Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.

If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee during the week.
