Round 17 vs Woodville

Only two games left! On Saturday we are playing at Woodville, and then next week back home to finish the regular season against Onkas.

Once again on Saturday there is a relatively late start to our day. The Get into Rugby and Under 8 sides play at 10.00am, followed by the Under 10s at 10.50am. The Brighton Under 12s can confirm their place in the finals with a win against Woodville at 11.50am.

Brighton Under 14s will also be able to sew up 2nd spot with a win, despite Onkas breathing down their necks and ready to pounce on any mistake. Brighton Under 16s unfortunately have to forfeit this week, and then the Brighton Under 18s can also finalise their place in the finals, as they play a Woodville side desperately trying to catch them.

Our two Third Grade sides are both playing at other venues, with the Blacks at Port Adelaide where they take on Old Collegians. Meanwhile the Golds are at Dry Creek playing North Torrens.

There is no Reserve Grade game this week, and unfortunately the Women’s team have again been severely impacted by injuries and have had to forfeit against Woodville. Our day at Woodville finishes with the Premier Grade at 3.30pm. Woodville will be desperate for a win in this game to stay in the finals hunt, so the premier Grade side will have to be on their toes!

Remember that Ladies Day is coming up on Saturday August 23, during the final home game against Onkas. Please secure your tickets right away and join in a great day at the club!

Addendum to 2024 Annual Report financials

As discussed in the passing of the BRUFC 2024 Financials at November’s AGM, an Addendum to the 2024 Annual Report Financials has been produced in an effort to better split out last year’s income streams between Bar, Canteen, Merchandise, etc.

As discussed at the AGM, the inability to attribute 2024 income to its component parts was largely due to deficiencies in correctly capturing income received through our payment system Square and allocating accordingly across to our accounting platform MYOB.

In the current 2025 year these deficiencies have been addressed with the introduction of a new accounting platform Xero, and new processes within the Club’s accounting functions. These all form part of the Club’s new five-year Strategic Plan under our Asset, Finance & Governance pillar, specifically “Creating Financial Stability & Transparency”.

A copy of the 2024 BRUFC Annual Report Addendum will be available at the bar for those interested. Any questions can be directed to the Treasurer, Robin Morgan, on 0415 652 389.

Code of Conduct

The club encourages any player, spectator or other supporter to report any issues you may encounter out at rugby.

The Rugby Australia Code of Conduct provides a set of standards for everyone involved in Rugby to ensure it is played in a safe, fair and inclusive environment. It also outlines the procedures for reporting, complaint handling and investigations of alleged breaches.
Brighton Rugby Club and all of our members and supporters have a duty to protect those involved in the game, and it is important to report someone who has acted against one or more of Rugby Australia’s policies, so appropriate action can be taken if necessary.

Please approach your coach or manager, one of our Committee members, or our Member Protection Officer Catherine Costello if you need to discuss anything that concerns you.
