Round 15 Results
For Round 15, Brighton visited Woodville on Friday night and Adelaide University on Saturday at the scenic Waite Oval, as the countdown to the 2025 finals started to heat up. Luckily the weather was a huge improvement over the previous week!
On Friday the Brighton Under 16s took on the ladder-leading Woodville to start the round. Unfortunately Woodville were too strong, showing why they have not lost a game this season with a 67-5 victory. This result was reversed when Brighton Under 18s came out for their game, dominating Woodville 55-5 and making certain they stayed well clear of Woodville in the fight for third place on the ladder.
On Saturday morning the Get into Rugby kids and the Under 8s got things started, together with the Under 10s on the main pitch. Then things got serious with the Brighton Under 12s needing to keep winning to hold onto their finals spot. They did so in great style, running in nine tries to cruise to a 55 – 17 win over Adelaide Uni. This keeps the Under 12s in fourth place on the ladder, and a clear win ahead of Elizabeth in fifth.
The Under 14s made sure there were no slip-ups in their finals campaign, winning by 46-7 over Adelaide Uni. This keeps the U14s in second on the ladder and ready to move to the business end of the season!
At Port Adelaide, the Third Grade Black team played North Torrens, and won 34-14 to move ever closer to fourth place on the ladder. While they were winning their game, the top-of-the-ladder Gold side took on the Adelaide Uni Sharks at Waite. The Golds ran in 18 tries to win 106-0, and have given up just two tries in their last four games! Both sides are now looking ahead to the Battle of Brighton in Round 16…with bragging rights for 2025 on the line.
The Brighton/Barossa Women’s team played their last home game for the year up at Barossa against Port Collegians, and had perhaps their best game of the season! The Women started very strongly, and led at half time. Port Collegians mounted a fierce comeback in the second half, but Brighton/Barossa still led nearly half way through the second half. Port Collegians finally managed to take the lead, and some crucial injuries saw Brighton/Barossa just fall short, scoring four tries to finally lose 22-31.
Brighton Reserve Grade had a comfortable win against Adelaide University, dominating proceedings to finish up winners by 79-5. This leaves Reserve Grade still camped on top of the ladder, and very keen to stay there for the last three rounds of the season.
The day finished with the Premier Grade game, and the first half produced a shock for the visitors, as Adelaide Uni led 13-12 at the break. Uni were playing well and tackling ferociously, but during the second half Brighton gradually asserted themselves on the game. Despite a rush of yellow cards, Brighton did not allow Adelaide Uni to score again, and finally won 34-13, ensuring they stayed in third with two games left to play.

The club encourages any player, spectator or other supporter to report any issues you may encounter out at rugby.
The Rugby Australia Code of Conduct provides a set of standards for everyone involved in Rugby to ensure it is played in a safe, fair and inclusive environment. It also outlines the procedures for reporting, complaint handling and investigations of alleged breaches.
Brighton Rugby Club and all of our members and supporters have a duty to protect those involved in the game, and it is important to report someone who has acted against one or more of Rugby Australia’s policies, so appropriate action can be taken if necessary.
Please approach your coach or manager, one of our Committee members, or our Member Protection Officer Catherine Costello if you need to discuss anything that concerns you.
Volunteers needed Ground Marshalls, Canteen & Bar
The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.
In particular we need volunteers to act as Bar and canteen staff, and Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.
If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen or bar, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee at training during the week.
Please note that all teams will be rostered to help in the canteen for a Saturday Home game during the season. When your team is rostered, please make yourself available for a short shift in the canteen.
