Round 16 vs Port Adelaide
We are down to the last three games, as we welcome Port Adelaide to Brighton for Round 16. This means it is also time for the soon-to-be legendary Third Grade clash of the Titans… Brighton Gold vs Brighton Black, or the Battle of Brighton VI!
First of all Brighton Under 16s and Under 18s are playing Old Collegians on Friday night, away at Tregenza Oval. Both teams have a tough assignment, but will be looking to take it right up to Old Colls. The Under 16s play at 6.30pm, and then Under 18s at 7.40pm. In particular the U18s will be pressing the reigning premiers to maker a statement leading in to finals.
On Saturday we all get to have a well-earned sleep-in, with the first games at 11.20am, featuring the Get into Rugby and Under 8 sides. Next up we have Brighton Under 10s playing at 12.10pm. The finals junior game for the day sees the Brighton Under 12s playing Port Adelaide with the chance to move one step closer to sealing up their Finals spot with a win.
The Brighton/Barossa had a monumental effort last week, leading for much of the game against Port Collegians and narrowly missing out on a win. Unfortunately some injuries in that game have forced the Women to forfeit their game against Burnside tomorrow, but they will be back next week as they join the other Brighton teams at Woodville in Round 17.
Brighton Reserve Grade play Port Adelaide at 2.00pm, and will be very keen to show exactly why they are reigning premiers and one of the highest scoring teams in senior rugby.
Then at 3.20pm we have the showpiece game this week, as the two Brighton Third Grade sides play each other once again, in the Battle of Brighton! Both teams enjoy playing free-flowing, attacking rugby, so get down to Brighton and enjoy the show!!
The Third Grade game will also feature Daniel “Gooba” Rowe playing his 500th senior game for Brighton, and after the rugby is done for the day we will be heading upstairs for the annual Beer Pong night! Come down to help us celebrate, and stay for a drink and a meal… or enter your team now for the Beer Pong!

“GOOBA”
500 senior games
Congratulations to the man, the myth, the legend… Daniel Rowe (AKA Gooba) on 500 games this weekend!
A member of the club since juniors, Dan played also played for Sacred Heart College, State Schoolboys and Division 2 Australian Schoolboys. Dan played his first Brighton Senior game in 1993 and has spent the next thirty-odd years diligently adding to this number.
He has won several premierships along the way, with his first in 2000, then many more including wins in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and as a Third Grade winning captain. Most recently Goober was a part of the undefeated Third Grade coaching group in 2024.
After taking a good Twenty years to get to 400 games, it has been a decidedly more leisurely twelve years to attain his 500. Not to mention some best and fairest awards along the way!
Congrats again to Daniel Rowe on this amazing milestone, and we hope to see you all at Brighton this Saturday for the Third Grade “Battle of Brighton” to help Gooba celebrate in style!!
