Season 2025 is here!

The 2025 Season is upon us, with Round 1 matches starting this week. After winning the Reserve Grade, Third Grade and Under 12 grand finals in 2024, we are looking forward to another big year on and off the field!

The club is fielding seven junior teams this season, and five senior teams. We are excited to welcome back our Brighton Women’s team after several seasons, and we are once again fielding a second team in Third Grade.

The season is 18 rounds, finishing on August 23, followed by Finals. Most weeks our teams will be playing together, except for our Third Grade Black team who follow Port Adelaide in the Draw, and our Women’s team, who have combined with Barossa Women for this season. However after a lot of discussion and help from other clubs, the Women will play a number of games at the same ground as our other teams!

Brighton teams are all playing away this week. Please see match details below, and come out and cheer on your Brighton Tigers!

Round 1 Draw & Premier Live Stream

This week Brighton teams are all playing away, with two junior games on Friday evening. Our teams are located as follows, with most games at Tregenza Oval vs Old Collegians, except for our Women’s team and Third Grade Black.

The Brighton Premier Grade is competing with Old Collegians for the Bob Burgess Cup, and this game will be Live Streamed. All our teams will be looking to get their season off to a good start, and we are especially excited to see the Brighton Women’s team in action, as they combine with the Barossa Women for 2025!

Further details are available on our Social pages and Rugby Xplorer.

All Live Stream games this season will be broadcast by SpaceQuake Sports and Rugby Union South Australia. games can be viewed via the Rugby Xplorer app, or through rugby.com.au here

Milestone
Keith Ramsay 400 games

The Club is proud to congratulate Keith Ramsay on achieving the milestone of 400 senior games played this weekend!

For many years Keith was the dominant halfback for Brighton, winning multiple premierships. Keith is still a leader at the club, helping the Third Grade Black and Gold teams to become better sides in recent seasons, and stepping in to the winning Third Grade final squad last year!

Congratulations on 400 games Keith, and thank you for all your contributions to Brighton Rugby Club over many years!

Volunteers needed

The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.

In particular we need volunteers to act as Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.

If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee at training during the week.

The Club is open!

We have a new caterer for the season, GMS Catering, and last Thursday was our first chance to try out Gavin and Maree’s meals. Everyone enjoyed the new menu, especially the salad bar included with all adult orders!

Please join everyone upstairs after training on Thursdays for a meal, a drink and a chat… no need to remember to take something out for tea!

The club will also be providing hot takeaway meals from the canteen on Tuesday nights after training!

So many Juniors!

Thank you to all the junior players and parents who have registered.
More than 130 junior players are now signed up for this season!

Please remember your Sports Vouchers. This year the SA Government has expanded this to 2 x $100 for each child (up to year 9). Both can be used for rugby if required, which will completely offset the playing fees for most juniors.

The Sports Vouchers can be downloaded at this link, and the completed form must be handed in to the Club Secretary Andrew Cropley to be submitted for reimbursement.
