Round 3 Results
Round 3 had Brighton making the trip up to Womma Reserve to play Elizabeth, except for the under 18s and Third Grade Black. There was also a later start after we received news that the opponents for our Women’s team had withdrawn, leaving our Women and Premier grades with a week off.
There were no games until the Under 10s, who entertained with their usual keen performance. The crowd was then treated to the match of the day between two closely matched Under 12 squads. After threatening to come back and take the lead several times during the second half, Brighton lost a thriller 29 – 38.
The Brighton U14s picked up where the U12s left off, and went on to win comfortably 48 – 7. This was followed by a confident win by the U16s, running in eleven tries to win 70 – 15. Over at Waite Oval the Brighton U18 side had a tough day at the office, narrowly losing 3 – 10 to Onkaparinga.
Next up at Elizabeth were Third Grade Gold, who had worried all week that Elizabeth may not have enough players. On the day Elizabeth had a full team and pushed Brighton early on, before the Gold side settled down and won 41 – 5.
While this was going on, Third Grade Black were fighting it out for top of the ladder at Barossa. A brave performance against powerful opposition saw Brighton lose 20 – 42, but come away with a bonus point for their efforts.
Finally Brighton Reserve Grade played Elizabeth. This was a tough task for Elizabeth, who had several players playing their second game for the day, especially against the reigning premiers. Brighton ran out winners 73 – 13, and will play on Saturday for top of the ladder.
Next Saturday is a full day of games at home against Southern Suburbs. Please get out there and support our juniors early, enjoy a coffee and something to eat, and then stay and enjoy a drink and lots more exciting rugby!

Volunteers needed Ground Marshalls
The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.
In particular we need volunteers to act as Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.
If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee at training during the week.
Please note that all teams will be rostered to help in the canteen for a Saturday Home game during the season. When your team is rostered, please make yourself available for a short shift in the canteen.
