Finals Week 3 – Season 2024

The final Saturday of the 2024 season had Brighton facing off for premierships in the Third grade and Reserve grade, on a beautiful day at Bailey Reserve.

First up was Brighton Thirds Gold, coming off an undefeated season, and looking to finally win it all after four unsuccessful grand finals in a row. The first half was scoreless, but after the break Brighton began to turn their dominance into points. Brighton eventually scored tries through Logan Stevens, Lachlan Ash, Kai Wilson and Cam Garforth. Burnside were never allowed to control the game, and despite a late consolation try Brighton won comfortably, 20 – 10.

Brighton Reserve grade faced Old Collegians, and were determined to show that they deserved to be favourites after a dominant season. Brighton took the lead during the first half, but Old Collegians forced their way back into the game, and eventually took the lead. Showing no signs of panic, Brighton scored again to lead by a single point, and then sealed the 24 – 18 victory with a late try, setting off the celebrations. Brighton’s tries were scored by Robbie Ferguson, Rhys Fishwick, Ross Lacey and Cameron Field.

Congratulations to the successful coaches, Shannon Fleming and Tom Annetts in Third grade and Nick Dudley in Reserve grade, to the managers and all of the players for outstanding seasons!
