Round 16 Results

Saturday did not disappoint, with a great game between Brighton Thirds Gold and Black to finish the day. The fun continued all evening, with the annual Brighton Beer Pong seeing as record number of teams dressed for action upstairs.

Brighton Under 16s and Under 18s played away at Old Collegians on Friday night. Unfortunately neither team could come away with a win, but now look ahead to the final two games of the season. In particular the U18s can lock up their finals spot with a win against Woodville next week.
Saturday got off to a relaxed start with the first games at 11.20. The Get into Rugby kids and the Under 8s had their usual good time, and then the Under 10s were able to have their game recorded, and should enjoy watching themselves scoring plenty of tries!

Brighton Under 12s played next, and had a dominant win against Port Adelaide. After starting the season with four losses, the U12s have won 11 of their last 12 games, and a win next week will mean finals are secured for 2025!

Brighton Reserve Grade had to respond after Port Adelaide got off to a fast start, and eventually settled down to business, winning comfortably 76-19. Brighton are still top of the ladder, but will need to win both of their remaining games to stay on top.

Finally we had the big Third Grade clash to finish the day. Brighton Gold and Brighton Black both fielded teams that would trouble any side in the competition, and they turned on a great display for the crowd. In the end Gold were victorious 50-14, but this did not fully reflect how even the game was for long periods. There were also great cheers from the sideline for Dan “Gooba” Rowe whenever he touched the ball in his 500th senior game for the club. Congratulations to Dan and to both sides for turning out in force for this big game in the Brighton calendar!

After the rugby was over, a record number of Beer Pong teams headed upstairs and spent the evening fighting it out for the 2025 title!

Next week we will be playing away at Woodville, and then on August 23rd we host Onkaparinga for the last home game of the season plus Ladies Day! Get your tickets now, and make it a day to remember as we head into finals…

RUSA Ladders Round 16

Brighton Beer Pong 2025!

A record number of teams battled it out upstairs on Saturday night for right to be crowned Brighton Beer Pong Champions for 2025!

In the end it came down to the Babies vs the Saffas (apologies if the names are wrong!), and the Babies came out on top! Congratulations to the winning team, well done to the organiser Liam Hamilton, commiserations to the losing teams, thanks to every team who put a huge effort into their costumes, most of all and apologies to our poor cleaner!

Code of Conduct

The club encourages any player, spectator or other supporter to report any issues you may encounter out at rugby.

The Rugby Australia Code of Conduct provides a set of standards for everyone involved in Rugby to ensure it is played in a safe, fair and inclusive environment. It also outlines the procedures for reporting, complaint handling and investigations of alleged breaches.

Brighton Rugby Club and all of our members and supporters have a duty to protect those involved in the game, and it is important to report someone who has acted against one or more of Rugby Australia’s policies, so appropriate action can be taken if necessary.

Please approach your coach or manager, one of our Committee members, or our Member Protection Officer Catherine Costello if you need to discuss anything that concerns you.

How to report a concern

Volunteers needed Ground Marshalls,
Canteen & Bar

The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.

In particular we need volunteers to act as Bar and canteen staff, and Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.

If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen or bar, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee at training during the week.

Please note that all teams will be rostered to help in the canteen for a Saturday Home game during the season. When your team is rostered, please make yourself available for a short shift in the canteen.
