Round 14 vs Barossa

This week it’s an abbreviated newsletter, as I prepare to join the exodus to Melbourne for the second test against the British & Irish Lions. It’s another important week in the countdown to finals for all Brighton sides.

Saturday sees us playing at home against Barossa. The Get into Rugby squad and the Under 8s start us off at 8:00am. We then have games all day until the Premier grade plays at 4.50pm. With only five rounds remaining before finals, all sides will be looking for wins to confirm their ladder positions.

After the day’s games we will be showing the second test between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions on the big screen upstairs, and enjoying Culture Night. Stay for a meal and a drink and enjoy the evening!

British & Irish Lions
Second Test Saturday Night

The club will be showing the test match again on the big screen on Saturday after our home games against Barossa!

Please head down to the club and join us for a huge day of rugby, and then stay and enjoy the big game. The bar and kitchen will be open as usual. See you all there!

South Australian Lions Tour

The South Australian Lions Tour bus headed off on Wednesday on their epic journey, and have already stopped in at Bordertown Football Club and Geelong Rugby Club on their way to Melbourne for the second test.

Along the way, the team will also be raising funds for the charity Hearts in Rugby Union, a charity where ex-players and supporters can help those who have suffered a catastrophic injury playing our game. They aim to ensure those players that are or have been injured receive the best possible support throughout their lives, and to help those suffering financial hardship post injury.

Crows Box Raffle Tickets Return Immediately

All tickets in the Brighton Rugby Club fundraising raffle must be returned to the club immediately. We will be drawing the raffle next week, and announcing the winner.

First prize in the raffle is a Corporate Box for 10 at the Adelaide Crows vs Collingwood game at Adelaide Oval, on Saturday August 16. Tickets are $5 each, and are strictly limited to 2000 total tickets.

There are still a few tickets left – please see the Manager of each junior team for tickets first, and then check with the club if you are trying to find some.

The club would like to thank O’Neills for donating the Corporate Box for the raffle.

Code of Conduct

The club encourages any player, spectator or other supporter to report any issues you may encounter out at rugby.

The Rugby Australia Code of Conduct provides a set of standards for everyone involved in Rugby to ensure it is played in a safe, fair and inclusive environment. It also outlines the procedures for reporting, complaint handling and investigations of alleged breaches.
Brighton Rugby Club and all of our members and supporters have a duty to protect those involved in the game, and it is important to report someone who has acted against one or more of Rugby Australia’s policies, so appropriate action can be taken if necessary.

Please approach your coach or manager, one of our Committee members, or our Member Protection Officer Catherine Costello if you need to discuss anything that concerns you.
