Round 13 vs Souths
We are finally back playing rugby, after a week off for the British & Irish Lions visit to Adelaide. The game was a great spectacle, but enough said about the score!
Saturday starts early with the Get into Rugby squad and the Under 8s playing at 8:00am on Pitch 2, followed soon after by the Under 10s at 8:30am on Pitch 1. With any luck there will be plenty of coffee available!
Next up are the Under 12s, who once again won last week, and once again have to play a top three team! If the last two months are any guide, the U12s will find a way to keep their supporters on the edge of their seats!
The Brighton Under 14s are sitting very nicely in second, and will feel confident again as they prepare for several vital games in the next month. Brighton Under 16s have a tough assignment, but will be very keen to take it up to the Uni-Bulls U16s. The Brighton Under 18s also play Uni-Bulls, and after their State Team success they will look forward to playing tomorrow.
Third Grade Black take on the Adelaide University Sharks at Waite Oval, and are very keen to keep a winning record and push towards a return to the top four. At Bailey, the Third Grade Gold team need to play at their usual high level against tough opposition if they want to stay ahead of Burnside and keep top spot on the ladder.
The Women’s team are taking on Woodville up at their second home at Barossa. As usual the team is in good spirits, while approaching the difficult match ups they have each week.
Brighton Reserve Grade have a tricky game against Souths to maintain their position at the top of the ladder, so they will not be taking Souths lightly. After last week’s huge score, tomorrow could be a much tougher game. The day then finishes with Brighton Premier Grade, who need to shake off the cobwebs after three weeks without a game. A good win will confirm Brighton’s place in the top three on the ladder.
After the games at Bailey are done for the day, we will be showing the first test between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions back at the club from 6.30pm. Come back and enjoy an evening of rugby on the big screen!

South Australian Lions Tour
The South Australian Lions Tour bus was brought out to show off to the crowds gathering for the Lions match in Adelaide last Saturday, and gathered it’s own crowd of fascinated fans admiring the work put in to get the bus ready for the grand tour.
The SALT 1st XV will be setting off next Wednesday to drive to Melbourne for the second test, and then on to Sydney for the third test.
Along the way, the team will also be raising funds for the charity Hearts in Rugby Union, a charity where ex-players and supporters can help those who have suffered a catastrophic injury playing our game. They aim to ensure those players that are or have been injured receive the best possible support throughout their lives, and to help those suffering financial hardship post injury.

Levi Slater signs with Reds
Congratulations to ex-junior player Levi Slater, as he signs his first contract with the Queensland Reds Development Squad!
Levi was a junior player at Brighton, before he left at 15 to board at Nudgee College and further his rugby career. He went from strength to strength and is now well on his way to playing at an even higher level in the future. A well deserved outcome after a lot of dedication and hard work.
Congratulations Levi, and good luck on your future Super Rugby career, from everyone at Brighton Rugby Club!
