Round 6 Results
Saturday had Brighton hosting Adelaide University for Round 6 of the 2025 season.
This week there was a taste of winter for the spectators watching the Get into Rugby teams, but this did not affect the players at all. Everyone had fun, and there were plenty of visits to the canteen for hot drinks by those on the sidelines! There were some exciting tussles as usual, and by the Under 8 and under 10 games some thrilling end-to-end play!
Brighton U12s made it two in a row with another good win, and now that they are clear of the bottom can start looking ahead to a finals spot. Next week is another chance to keep climbing. The Under 14s had a big win for their fifth in a row to stay in second spot, and have a rest next Saturday. Unfortunately the Under 16s lost to the undefeated Woodville, but will look forward to playing under lights this coming Friday. They will be joined by the under 18s, who had a bye last weekend.
The Brighton/Barossa Women’s team enjoyed another chance to play at the same venue as the other Brighton senior teams, and had an impressive ten Brighton players in the combined team! Playing against Port Collegians, the Women had a physical game and managed to score three tries. Despite losing, the Women’s team are getting a better feel every week for how to apply pressure on their opposition.
Brighton Third grade Gold played an undermanned Sharks side, and were able to make sure there was a game by sharing several players. This was reflected in the score, but did not show how determined the Sharks were to provide a game for Brighton. The win left Gold with a very healthy points plus/minus, but still second on the ladder. Up at Dry Creek the Blacks had a much tougher win against a very competitive North Torrens side. As a result the Gold and Black teams are again second and third on the ladder.
Brighton Reserve grade rolled on to another big win, and are now more than a game clear on top of the ladder, with a huge advantage in plus/minus as well. It will be important for the Reserves to be ready for the potential tougher games coming up in a few weeks.
Finally the Premier grade also had a convincing victory over Adelaide Uni. This included an amazing five tries for Jaden Phillips, which must almost be a record for a front-rower! The win leaves the premier grade clear in second spot, and with a perfect record since their Round one loss to Old Collegians.

How to report a concern
Volunteers needed Ground Marshalls, Canteen & Bar
The club needs volunteers to help with jobs on match days, especially home games.
In particular we need volunteers to act as Bar and canteen staff, and Ground Marshalls. One of these is required at every game, juniors and seniors. The coaches and managers are not able to fill this role as well, and are also busy organising their teams.
If you are able to assist the club by acting as a Ground Marshall, volunteering your time in the canteen or bar, or by helping with any other of many jobs on match days, please see your team’s manager or speak to one of the club committee at training during the week.
Please note that all teams will be rostered to help in the canteen for a Saturday Home game during the season. When your team is rostered, please make yourself available for a short shift in the canteen.
