John Fidock – 600 Games

This week we are celebrating an amazing milestone for a player now in his 7th decade of senior rugby at Brighton… John Fidock.

John played his first senior game in 1979, during a period when Brighton dominated the South Australian rugby competition. That same year Brighton won the Grand Final again, and John was then a fixture in the side for many years to come, going on to win another nine 1st Grade premierships. John was selected in the Australian U21 squad, and won the Don Smith medal as South Australia’s best & fairest player twice, matching his dad Ted Fidock’s achievement in the 1950s. John played many games for South Australia, including against touring national sides Argentina, Japan, Zimbabwe, USA, Canada and Italy, and at many interstate carnivals. John has played with or against most rugby players in SA, been coached by great coaches and has made many lifelong friendships and amazing rugby memories along the way.

This Saturday John will play his 600th senior game. Please come to Riverside Oval at 12.40 pm on June 29 and join us in celebrating John’s achievement!
